Description
The Cathedral of the Transfiguration of Christ in Kaišiadorys has the Chapel of the Blessed Teofilius Matulionis and the Cathedral Tower where Teofilius Matulionis hid a Jewish girl. Teofilius Matulionis rests in the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of Christ in Kaišiadorys. The construction was commenced in 1906 as a church and finished in 1932 as a cathedral. The building is in a neo-Gothic style with neo-Romanesque decoration on the facade. The Cathedral is characterized by graceful proportions. Its unique feature is the relatively low chapels attached to the main building on either side of the naves. All this creates a consonant and harmonious architectural wholeness of the building.
