Description
There is a paint called “soot-black”, which has become almost the main axis of the space around the portrait. That sooty colour is a reference to the moods of the places where the Blessed Teofilius Matulionis was imprisoned and moved. A sooty mist, enveloping the face painted in with His experience. The portrait is clearly defined in the horizontal format of the transmitted internal light. This is a classic portrait with a slightly enhanced proportion to emphasize the importance of Teofilius. His importance should be clear, even without the attributes of the bishop, but only with sooty shirts and a melancholy look at the side of fraught trouble. The author of the painting is Andrius Zakarauskas. The Cross designed to honour the blessed Teofilius Matulionis is intended to inspire parishioners to gain spiritual strength and jolly up their daily lives. The parish is delighted that the new artwork will enliven the area, and not only will the local people be able to admire this sculpture and feel a closer connection to God. The author of the cross is Albertas Lunskis.
