The Chapel of the Transfiguration of Our Lord in Kaišiadorys has the chapel of the Blessed Teofilius Matulionis. In the Chapel of the Blessed Archbishop, martyr Teofilius Matulionis, there is his sarcophagus (ornate casket) and canonical image. It is called the canonical image because when it was being painted, the traditional, Christian, sacred artistic requirements were followed. The motto of Teofilus Matulionis was “Per crucem ad astra – Through the cross to the stars”.
