Description
The place of the tragedy of the Jews. In Fort IX, people were massively exterminated from October 1941 until the occupation by the Soviet Red Army in August 1944. Particularly, October of 1941 was distinguished by the abundance of the massacre – on 4 October 1845 of the Jews were killed, on 29 October – 9,200 Jews. Never before had so many people been destroyed on the land of Lithuania. Not only men but also women, children and old people were shot during these campaigns.
