The Kaunas sisters had set up a children’s shelter in the former Benedictine manor building in Čiobiškis. In this shelter, Esther Yellin, a Jewess who later became a prominent pianist, was concealed by the efforts of Bishop Matulionis and the Benedictine sisters.
